    • McDermott, Philip, 90, of Ridgefield, passed away on January 1, 2013.

      He was born in New York City to Clement and Sophie (nee Nelson) McDermott.

      Philip was a long time and loyal employee of United States Postal Service for 38 years before retirement in 1989.

      Philip proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the Pacific.

      Philip was a parishioner of St. Matthew Church, and a member of the Roemer Bollerman American Legion Post 221,Ridgefield, NJ.

      He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

      Philip is predeceased by his wife Dorothy (nee Riley), he is survived by his daughter, Margaret McDermott, his adored grandchildren Michelle Ruggiero-Perrota and her husband Michael, Crystal Ruggiero- Maynard and her husband Danilo, Racquel Ruggiero-Benitez and her husband Danny, his great grandson Thomas Philip Perrota and many nieces and nephews, including Frank Riley who cared for him in his final days.

      Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:15AM in St. Matthew Church, Please arrive in Funeral Home 9:15AM.

      Family and friends will be received Monday and Tuesday 5?9 PM in the Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ 07657.

      Interment: Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
